Under the News and Features section, we highlight that a new solid-fuel firing facility has come on line at a ceramics works near Warsaw, Poland. This involves a PROMATIC facility that dries, micronises and injects mineral coal for the firing section in a kiln producing some 400 Tn of heat bricks per day. The kiln is preheated using natural gas, and quality of firing by combining both fuels is a great improvement on the previous system, which relied on a natural gas/fuel oil combination. Poland has a wide variety of locally mined mineral coals, some of them with ideal properties for the ceramics industry. Availability of the right technology and differing fuel prices make these facilities very cost effective as they can respond instantly to increases in other fuel prices. In the next few weeks, BERALMAR will commission a further solid-fuel firing installation in Poland.
