Ceramics Industry
ECTS MEETS IN GREECE

ECTS (European Ceramic Technology Suppliers), the working group that brings together Europe’s leading suppliers in the ceramics industry, held their second annual meeting in Greece on 4 November.

Among the items on the agenda, we would like to highlight the decision to hold another ceramics symposium in Iran in 2017. This time the symposium will take place in Tehran. The dates will be decided soon and we will inform you of them through this newsletter.

The ECTS also agreed to carry out a series of actions to promote ceramics products in emerging markets where a decrease in their use has been observed. They hope to collaborate with TBE (Tiles & Bricks Europe) on these actions.

Lastly, elections for board members were held, as is done every three years. Miquel Moix (BERALMAR) will take over for Dries van Hapert (DE BOER) as chairman. Stefan Eirich (EIRICH), Felip Verdés (TALLERES VERDÉS) and Dries van Hapert (DE BOER) will also be on the board.

The next ECTS meeting will be hosted by one of its newest members, MAK-SAN, in Izmir, Turkey in May.

OFFICIAL INAUGURATION OF THE AMRAOUA BRIQUETERIE (ALGERIA)

In September, the BRIQUETERIE AMRAOUI in Tizi Ouzou (Algeria) held its official inauguration. The event was attended by the Algerian president and several ministers, who received explanations from the owner, Mr. Karim Iratni, as well as a tour of the facilities designed and supplied by BERALMAR. The factory has a daily capacity of 420 tonnes in several formats.

The new factory has a semi-continuous dryer and a 114 m long tunnel kiln with an internal width of 5 m. It also has automation systems for cutting, dryer loading and unloading, kiln car stacking and destacking, and packaging, all designed and manufactured by BERALMAR.

The act was broadcast on Algerian television (watch video), and attendees were surprised by the high level of automation in the manufacturing process.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Karim Iratni once more for his trust in BERALMAR, and to congratulate him on the event.
